5 Tips for Better Teeth Cleaning at Home
2
Oral Hygiene
  • You can brush four times a day and still have
food stuck on your teeth. You can also brush
twice a day and ensure youre getting a good
    clean for your mouth.
  • So how do you ensure youre covering all tooth
    areas when brushing?
  • Here are some tips to improve your brushing and
    oral hygiene routine, overall.

3
Change Toothbrush Every 3-4 Months
  • Are you using a frayed toothbrush? That could be
the reason youre not getting a good clean when
brushing. Make it a habit to change your brush
once you see the fibres start to fray or every
    3-4 months, whichever comes first.
  • This time, pick a brush with smaller head so it
can fit into narrow areas of your mouth,
especially the top areas near the gumline. Also,
choose a toothbrush with soft bristles so you
avoid damaging your gums and tooth enamel.

4
Change your Brushing Technique
  • Spend at least two minutes when brushing your
teeth. Youll be surprised to find out that many
only spend a few seconds cleaning their teeth.
For a start, you can play a song or use a timer
    when brushing.
  • When brushing, make sure to focus on shorter back
and forth strokes so you can thoroughly cover
every set of tooth. Dont forget to brush the
back of your teeth as food debris and plaque love
    breeding in these areas.

5
Back up with a Floss
  • Crevices and tight spaces between teeth are ideal
places for plaque buildup. Before brushing your
teeth or if you are unable to brush, make sure to
    at least floss your teeth.
  • Focus on areas that your brush won't be able to
reach. See to it that the floss strand is long
enough so you dont deposit back the bacteria you
    just removed from another teeth.

6
Keep your Toothbrush Clean and Dry
  • After using your toothbrush, rinse it thoroughly.
And rather than using a cover, let your brush air
dry instead. Covering the brush while its still
wet can only lead to bacteria growth.
  • When this happens, the bacteria can be
transferred into your mouth once you brush the
    again.

7
Keep a Mouthwash Handy
  • If you wont be able to brush, say youre at a
friends house, at least rinse your mouth to
remove the food debris. When youre always on the
go, it will be easier to use a mouthwash than
    always run for a brush.
  • Keep in mind though that mouthwash is not a
substitute for brushing. Brushing is still
crucial and mouthwash will only help you clean
your mouth better and keep your breath fresh.
