hunting my Christmas destination in Europe which

Germany, one of the best places to celebrate
Christmas has to be Hamburg. Unlike other

First Hamburg is a unique place to visit with all
these traditions and grand buildings along with
modern and unconventional ones. Second, the
markets here are some of the biggest and the most
diverse you will ever find anywhere else. These
Christmas markets create an atmosphere which can
only be described as magical.

city in Germany has long been known for its food
markets. The citys main Weihnachtsmarkt is held
at the Town Hall which has a huge Christmas tree
to mark the location. Among many, Winterwald is
the Christmas market where you should go. It is a
unique market with forest filled with countless
pine trees which set up the festive mood. This
market is situated on the main shopping street,
which means that you can eat, shop for
hand-crafted gifts in local German stores, and
other items in bigger branded stores. The
Christmas Songs Throughout the markets, the
traditional Christmas songs like Silent Night,
Holy Night are played 24 hours a day. The Port
of Hamburg Tradition Every year Santa himself
delivers Christmas trees to all the ships that
are anchored in Hamburg. This is to make the
seafarers on board feel good and give them a
sense of home. Experiencing Christmas in Germany
especially in Hamburg was rejuvenating as you
will find many traditions which are either lost
or are not taken for granted in other countries.
This Christmas was the most authentic Christmas I
have ever experienced. It was lively, energetic
and beautiful, while also chilled out which also
depicts the easy-going nature of the people

front of the Town Hall which is the city center
and the main market. Stay around that area and
book your hotels well in advance as the price
shoot up during the holiday season and
accommodation may not be available.

magic of Christmas lies not in big things but in
small things like the candies, the toys for
children, the gifts for your loved ones, snowy
weather, warm thoughts, laughter, and happiness.
