Christian Heesch - Ph.D. in Marine Biology
Christian Heesch, a native New Yorker, has just
completed his Ph.D. at Stony Brook University. As
a marine biologist, he is passionate about
educating others about the best methods to take
better care of the planet. While he is looking
ahead toward many career opportunities, he is
considering entering into the field of education
as a result of the many volunteer hours hes
spent working with students. He has served with
numerous organizations inspiring youth to pursue
the sciences.

Christian Heesch - A Focus on Deep Sea Ecology
Christian Heesch has been fascinated by the ocean
since he was a child, and though he studied
fisheries and water management for his recent
Ph.D. dissertation, he is still deeply intrigued
by deep sea ecology. He loves the idea that there
is still so much that we dont know about the
deepest workings of these incredible ecosystems.
He enjoys teaching beginner classes about deep
sea ecology with elementary-aged students during
volunteer sessions in numerous schools in New
York.

Christian Heesch - A Passionate Outdoorsman
Christian Heesch, a marine biologist based in New
York, enjoys spending his free time outdoors with
family and friends. An avid backpacker, he is
passionate about helping beginners learn how to
enjoy the outdoors safely and smartly.
He is thrilled that his work often means that he
gets to be outside, his deep love of the ocean
having informed his career choice in the biology
field. He is looking forward to his next career
move.

Christian Heesch - Considering Teaching
Christian Heesch has just completed his Ph.D. in
Marine Biology at Stony Brook University. As a
native New Yorker, he has enjoyed volunteering in
numerous classrooms to help teach children about
sustainability and ocean ecosystems. As a result,
though he has numerous employment offers waiting
for him, he is considering going into teaching at
the university level because he knows that young
people have the capacity to create significant
change. He enjoys backpacking in his spare time.
