Title: Tips for companies to help invest in cost-effective equipments

1
INVESTING IN EQUIPMENT IN A
COST
EFFECTIVELY
Whether it is the manufacturing industry or the
construction industry, organizations might find
themselves in a position where they would have to
invest in equipment and machinery. In many cases,
companies might prefer cost effective options
over brand new machinery. Companies could buy
equipment on a short-term basis and resell the
same to equipment dealers or retailers. They
could also consider purchasing used equipment.
The following are some points that could help
companies when investing in cost-effective
equipment.

2
PURCHASE CONTRACT
Companies should ensure that they read through
the purchase contract very carefully, especially
when getting into an agreement that involves
reselling used equipment to the equipment dealer.
With used equipment that is to be resold, the
terms and conditions should specify details such
as whose responsibility it is if equipment fails,
machinery malfunctions, where the items would be
stored post usage, who conducts and pays for
maintenance, etc. Contracts could also specify
other details that are specific to different
kinds of equipment.
3
EQUIPMENT USAGE
There are two important factors to be kept in
mind where equipment usage is concerned. The
first is for how many hours the equipment has
already been used. The second is how many hours
the company intends to use the equipment for.
Naturally, the more often equipment is used, the
less efficient it could get. Used machinery could
develop various issues such as tendency towards
over-consumption of fuel, loose internal parts,
inefficient engines, etc. Hence, companies must
ensure they thoroughly check usage details before
buying or selling used equipment.
4
OPERATORS DRIVERS
Another consideration is whether companies buying
equipment also have employees who are trained and
authorized to operate heavy machinery. For
example, machinery such as concrete mixer,
cranes, forklifts, etc, could require handlers or
employees to have permits and special training
for safe and efficient operation. Companies could
hire trained drivers and operators to handle such
equipment and machinery.
