Introduction
Before a home buyer calls his home his own, a
home inspection by a licensed inspector should
take place before signing ones name on the
dotted line at closing time.  Making absolutely
sure all of the homes components are in good
condition and working well is crucial.  A
previously-owned home can be a host to a variety
of issues such as a leaky roof, crumbling mortar
in the chimney, appliances that may not work, and
so on.

How Much Does a Private Inspection Cost?
The fees associated with a private
home-inspection vary from state to state and
these fees typically increase with larger homes
and they increase when requests for an inspection
involve more-detailed scrutiny.  Inspection fees
for new homes are less costly than fees for
re-sale homes and are based on the size of the
heated/cooled square feet as well as a homes
particular features.  Here are a
few ball-park examples of home-inspection fees
associated with newly-constructed
residences 1,500 to 1,999 square feet
375 2,000 to 2,499 square feet 400 3,000
to 3,499 square feet 450 4,000 to 4,499
square feet 500

What Do Home Inspection Fees Cover?
Home inspection fees cover a gamut of a homes
featuresstructural and cosmeticto ensure
internal and external components and materials
are installed properly and working optimally. 
The following list is, by no means, exhaustive
but provides a general overview of the types of
checklist items that would be included as part of
a quality-and-performance inspection.  The home
inspector will check to see if ground around
the foundation slopes away from the
home shingles form a straight line across the
roofs surface and are flat, tight and uniform in
appearance down-spouts direct water away from
