About UGC NET
University Grants Commission (UGC) conducts
National Eligibility Test (NET) to determine
eligibility for lectureship and for award of
Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) to fix minimum
criteria for recruitment of assistant professors
and admission to PhD/Research Programmes. This
test is conducted in about 90 Subjects.

Schedule of UGC NET

• The UGC-NET Computer Science is conducted twice
  in a year i.e. in the months of June and
  December.
• Notification about the schedule of the test is
  published in months of March and September
  respectively in Employment News

• Candidates with 55 marks in Masters Degree.
• Reserved category candidates (OBC/SC/ST/PWD)
  should get 50 marks in Masters degree
• Result Awaited considered are also eligible for
  UGC NET Exam. These candidates must complete
  their Master degree examination within two years
  of the UGC NET result declaration.
• The Ph.D. degree holders having done their
  Masters examination by 19th September 1991shall
  be eligible for a relaxation of 5 in total marks
  for appearing in UGC NET.
• Candidates should appear in the subject of
  their post graduation only

• The Test consists of three objective type papers.
  
• Paper 1 is Common for all candidates.
• Paper-II and Paper-III are subject papers.

Criteria of Result Declaration

• This will comprise of following steps
• Step I Candidate has to obtain minimum marks in
  each paper mentioned in table below.
• Step II Candidates who obtains above mentioned
  marks are included for the preparation of final
  merit list. This list is prepared subject wise.
• Step III Only Top 15 candidates (for each
  subject and category), out of prepared merit list
  will be declared NET qualified. A separate merit
  list is prepared for the award of JRF amongst the
  NET qualified candidates.
