Auditing is one of the main career options in the
field of accounting. It is a systematic process
of obtaining and evaluating financial statements
or accounts of private business, government
undertaking, department etc. It is a specialized
form of accounting and plays a vital role in both
private and public organization. An auditor is a
person who review, analyze and evaluate the
processes, services, systems, products,
organizations and employees. He determines the
efficiency, adequacy and effectiveness of the
company.

To pursue a career in auditing a candidate must
have Bachelors degree in accounting from a
recognized university. After which a candidate
has to study Chartered accountant program to work
as an auditor. Students who have done their post
graduation can also apply for this course.
Candidates who have done IRCA certified training
program can also become auditors.

In India, auditors have many career opportunities
such as Internal auditors, External auditors,
Government auditors, Forensic auditors in
manufacturing sector, insurance companies,
banking sector, pecuniary institutions,
corporate, financial firms, government service,
public sector, teaching staff, non profit
organization and government agency etc. Many
auditors carry out their private practice.

Remuneration

The pay scale in majority of the governmental
organization for entry level engineers will be in
the range of Rs.1,80,000 to Rs.2,40, 000 per
annum. In private firms Entry level engineers can
avail a minimum of Rs. 1,44, 000 to Rs. 1,80,
000 per annum. Experienced professionals can
earn up to Rs. 5,00, 000 per annum.
