Title: IGEL zero clients make life even easier for Citrix users
1IGEL zero clients make life even easier for
Citrix users
- Sometimes the IT sector moves more quickly than
business customers would like it to. This is
particularly true where zero client users are
concerned. If it is not possible to update the
firmware to ensure compatibility with new client
versions for accessing server or cloud-based IT
infrastructures, the entire investment is at
risk.
2Can the zero client firmware be updated?
IGEL Technology, the German market leader for
zero clients, thin clients and software thin
clients has set itself the goal of protecting its
customers against this risk. The IGEL zero
clients optimized for Citrix XenDesktop show that
this is possible. After all, IGEL not only
ensures that its thin and zero clients are
compatible with the new Citrix XenDesktop 7
version but also allows you to decide yourself
when you switch to the new release.
3Citrix XenDesktop with IGEL zero clients
With its numerous new features and an even better
user experience, Citrix XenDesktop 7 is an
attractive prospect for many companies.
Nevertheless, certain customers would rather not
switch to the new version, for example because of
compatibility problems with individual
applications or because they do not wish to
change their existing IT environment.
4IGEL integrates two versions of the Citrix
Receiver into its zero clients
- Take advantage of future trends with IGEL zero
clients - Following migration to Citrix XenDesktop 7, IGEL
thin and zero clients can access virtual desktops
provided as part of the cost-effective Citrix
VDI-in-a-Box solution. Further new features
include direct access to StoreFront stores and
Citrix XenApp sites as well as the new graphical
user interface in Citrix Receiver 13 via which
users can subscribe to and launch apps and
desktops themselves (self-service UI).
- For the first time ever, the most recent firmware
update (5.3.100) for Linux-based thin and zero
client solutions features two versions of the
Citrix Receiver access software. In addition to
the new Version 13 for Citrix XenDesktop 7.x, it
also includes the previous Version 12.
5Maximum investment protection
- With these new features in the IGEL IZ1, IZ2 and
IZ3 zero client ranges, IGEL is once again
helping to protect companies' investments. The
IGEL IZ2 and IZ3 zero client ranges also offer an
upgrade path to the equivalent IGEL UD2 and UD3
Universal Desktop thin clients. This makes them
even more future-proof.
