  • Kidney cancer is the seventh most common cancer
    and the tenth most common cause of cancer death
    for men, and it is the tenth most common cause of
    cancer for women.
  • An estimated 61,560 adults (38,270 men and 23,290
    women) in the United States will be diagnosed
    with kidney cancer and renal pelvic cancer.
  • It is estimated that 14,080 deaths (9,070 men and

  • Stage 2 the tumor is larger than 7 centimeters
    but still confined to the kidney

    nodes or tissues
  • Stage 4 the tumor has spread more extensively
    (liver, lungs, bone and/or brain)

  • CT Scan, MRI, or Ultrasound, Urinalysis and Blood
    tests
  • Intravenous pyelogram an X-ray with dye to look
    at the structure of the kidneys, ureters and
    bladder
  • Bone scan and possible X-ray of bones to
    determine if cancer has spread to the bones
  • Needle biopsy of the mass in rare circumstances
