ABOUT BIO-FERTILIZER
3
INTRODUCTIONS
4
Fertilizer They are materials that contain one
or more of the essential elements(N, P K either
single or in combination) and are applied to
soils to encourage crop growth.
  • Bio Fertilizer
  • It is a Natural organic fertilizer known that
helps to provide all the nutrients required by
the plants and helps to increase the quality of
the soil with a natural Living micro-organism
    environment.

BIO-FERTILIZER
5
TYPES OF BIO - FERTILIZER
  • Normally, Bio Fertilizers are divided into two
    types.
  1. Manure They are biologically
originated and obtained from animal excreted
kitchen waste, agricultural waste and green
plants. The are highly nutritious and improve
the quality or soil. They are a) Compost
    Manure, b) Farmyard Manure c)
    Green Manure.
  1. Compost Manure These type of
manures are prepared from waste released from
household activities, which are kept within a pit
for about 8 9 months. After that period it acts
    as a fertilizer.
  2. Farmyard Manure These type of
manures are prepared from solid or liquid excreta
released from animals husbandry as well as from
    agricultural waste. These substances were
deposited at same places about 5 -6 months. After
that period it acts as a fertilizer.

6
Plants that are used in Green Manures are as
follows
c) Green Manure These are the green plants
which are grown in the agricultural field and
plough under the field. After one to two months,
it acts as a fertilizer. It is practically
verified that by the uses of green manures, the
productivity of field increases by 40.
  • Alexandrium trifoliumAlexandrium repens
  • Serbania rortzataSerbania aculata
  • (Dhahincha)

7
Significance of Manure (Green Manure)
  • It helps to increase the productivity of soil by
    40.
  • It helps to make the soil fertile.
  • It helps the percolation capacity of soil.
  • It helps to prevent from involution.
  • It helps to increase water holding capacity of
    soil.
  • It helps to prevent from soil erosion.
  1. Biological Fertilizer They are originated
from alive living organisms. They are
    cyanobacteria and Fungi.

CLASSIFICATIONS OF BIO - FERTILIZER

WORKING OF BIO - FERTILIZER
  • Bio fertilizers fix atmospheric nitrogen in the
soil and root nodules of legume crops and makes
    it available to the plant.
  • They solublises the insoluble forms of phosphates
like tri-calcium, iron and aluminum phosphates
    into available forms.
  • They decompose organic matter and help in
    mineralization in soil.
  • They scavenge phosphate from soil layers..
  • They produce hormones and anti metabolites which
    promote root growth..
  • They produce hormones and anti metabolites which
    promote root growth.
  • When applied to seed or soil. Bio fertilizers
increase the availability of nutrients and
improve the yield by 10 to 25 without adversely
    affecting the soil and environment.

10
BENIFITS FROM USING BIO - FERTILIZER
  • Increase crop yield by 20-30.
  • Replace chemical nitrogen and phosphorus by 25.
  • Stimulate plant growth.
  • Activate the soil biologically.
  • Restore natural soil fertility.
  • Provide protection against drought and some soil
    borne diseases.

11
Plant Growth
Photosynthesis Co2 H2O
Carbohydrates(CHO) O2
Innumerable experiments prove there is
significant increase in Yields by application of
secondary and micronutrients along NPK nutrients.
  • Nutrients are taken up primarily by the roots of
an aqueous solution in the soil.

12
CAUTIONS AND LIMITATIONS OF BIOFERTILIZER
  • Never mix with chemical nitrogen fertilizers.
  • Never apply with fungicides, plant ash etc. at
    the same time.
  • Never directly expose to sunlight.
  • Do not keep used solution overnight.
  • Store at room temperature, not below Oº C and
    over 35º C.
