  • What is CPT and when does it happen

Common Proficiency Test, which is a simplified
entry to the Chartered Accountancy course. CPT is
designed in the pattern of entry level test of
engineering, medical and other professional
courses.
CA CPT Exam Date Sunday, 16th June, 2013.
What is the pattern of the CPT exam? CPT is
conducted twice in a year in the month of June
and December. The examination is divided in two
sessions as follows Session 1 (Two hours 100
marks) Section A Fundamentals of Accounting (60
Mark) Section B Mercantile Laws (40
Marks)   Session 2 (Two hours 100
marks) Section C General Economics (50
Marks) Section D Quantitative Aptitude (50 Marks)

Why CPT is important
  • Owing to recent economic reforms in the country,
    companies in the financial services sector are
    turning prominent employers of newly qualified
    CAs. The demand is especially high in the
    banking and insurance sectors.
  • With global financial practices getting
    increasingly complex, CAs with expertise in
    financial administration, capital markets and
    international financial regulations will have
    major career opportunities coming their way,
    especially in Wealth Management and Investment
    Banking.
  • CAs with high level strategic thinking and
    management skills could stream into Strategic
    Management and rise to the top management of an
    organization.

CRITERIA
What is the passing criteria
A student has to obtain a minimum of 30 marks
in each subject and an aggregate of 50 marks for
passing CPT. There will be a negative marking of
0.25 for each wrong answer.
  • What is the next step after CPT?
  • After appearing and qualifying CPT the student is
    eligible to register for IPCC which is the next
    level of CA course. The student is eligible to
    enrol for Group 1 and Group 2 papers of this
    level after passing the CPT and Class 12
    examination. After a period of 9 months from the
    date of registration for the Integrated
    Professional Competency Course (IPCC), the
    student need to achieve the following in order to
    be eligible to take the Group 1 and Group 2
    papers of IPCE (total 7 papers)
  • The Orientation Course of 1 week
  • 100 hours of IT training.
