Title: Flowers for your autumn garden

1
TYPES OF FLOWERS TO PLANT IN OCTOBER
During the month of October the trees and shrubs
are filled with yellow, red, purple, and orange.
It is, however, one of those months boring for
the garden
2
Cool temperature flowers
  • Cold flowers are plants that can withstand light
frosts and flourish when the temperature falls
below 50 degrees Fahrenheit (10 degrees Celsius),
and are an excellent choice to have fresh cut
    flowers at home.
  • These plants tolerate light frost and low night
temperatures, although on an old sheet or fleece
over them at night when a hard freeze is expected
can keep blooming until the first heavy snow.

3
Planting Bulbs
  • October is traditionally the time to plant spring
bulbs. Planting bulbs now gives them time to take
root before the ground freezes. Instead of
planting spring bulbs individually, dig a trench
deep enough for bulbs and plants in blocks. There
are some late-flowering bulbs, such as Oriental
lilies and hyacinths and some saffron that
tolerate cooler temperatures of autumn. Plant
spring bulbs for fall flowers. Be sure to cover
lily plants on nights when frost is forecast
because the flowers will disintegrate. Crocus
hyacinth can tolerate some frost that is if
    provided with the morning sun.

4
Annual Flowers
  • Most annuals continue blooming until early
November or when night temperatures fall below
freezing, they are a great choice for your
weeding flowers during autumn , provide some
cover at night when a frost is predicted
  • Marigolds , petunias, zinnias , cosmos and
marigolds those are some of my favorites for
    October annually

5
Perennials
Perennials are more difficult than Annual, as
most annuals are discarded when they finally
succumb to frost damage. Perennials should be
used indoors during the winter, and few can
withstand the rigors of freezing temperatures and
cold night. Chrysanthemums are the most popular
fall flower, although often grown as annuals , as
some gardeners like to have the plant in late
winter
