Bangalore Metro
  • Bangalore Mass Rapid Transit Ltd. (BMRTL), is the
    implementing agency.
  • Project envisages a 33km elevated and underground
    rail network with 32 stations for Phase 1.
  • Budgeted at more than 54.5 billion rupees ( about
    US1.2 billion ).
  • Soil testing started.
  • Project to be completed by 2011.

    handling freight traffic. To be opened for
    passenger traffic shortly.

Investment Region ( PCPICR ) at Mangalore
  • Mangalore is a major sea port with a Refinery of
    ONGC (US 20 billion Oil Gas major) a
    Fertilizer Plant.
  • Mangalore is poised to be the major hub of
    Petroleum, Chemical Petrochemical Industries of
    Southern India.
  • A new Coastal Special Economic Zone (SEZ) is
    planned as a part of the PCPIR. SPV incorporated
    for SEZ (with ONGC, GoK, ILFS others).
  • 13000 acres identified under acquisition.
    Government committed to acquire additional land
    required for the PCPIR.

Eco Tourism Projects in Karnataka
  • Jungle Lodges Resorts, a GoK undertaking, is
    currently managing 12 eco-tourism based theme
    resorts in places like Kabini, Dandeli, Karwar etc
  • JLR proposes to develop about 10 new ecotourism
    destinations with themes like water sports,
    trekking, fishing, hang gliding etc.
  • The proposal envisages development of these
    projects either as a management arrangements or
    on long-term BOT concessions.
  • JLR has identified about 4 locations ( Almatti,
    Bonal tank, Jog Falls, Desur ) for development.
  • Estimated redevelopment costs of Rs. 12-14 crores
    ( for 4 locations ).
  • Few of the projects would be on offer to
    interested parties by October November 2006.
