Background Resources
In many organizations, employee health benefits
are administered and managed by the Human
Resources Department or Risk Management. In
order for health benefits to remain competitive
and to ensure that proper financial and
programmatic leadership was provided, in 2003,
Maricopa County Management decided to create a
separate department called Employee Health
Initiatives (EHI) that reports directly to the
Deputy County Manager and the County Manager.
The EHI leadership team is composed of health
care professionals who collaborate with County
management and external partners to provide
fiscally conscious and innovative health care
programs for employees. More information
