Basics

• Reading counts is designed to encourage reading
  among students
• Managed with the help of a software program
• Students take quizzes over books in order to earn
  points
• Rewards are given when students earn specific
  amounts of points

Quizzes

• Books with salmon labels have Reading Counts
  quizzes available
• Students must correctly answer 7 out of 10
  questions to earn points
• Quizzes can be taken up to 3 times
• There will be new questions each time you retake
  a quiz

Taking a Quiz

• Reading Counts software is available on all
  computers in the school
• Log into computer
• Log into Reading Counts under your name
• You may choose to set a password

Book Levels

• Books are leveled by color
• White
• Yellow
• Green
• Blue
• Purple
• And so on
• Teacher can help students know what level to read
• Media Specialist can help students find books at
  their level

• Labels on back of Reading Counts books include
• R.L. Reading Level
• Pts Point Value

• Browse the shelves for salmon labels
• Search the Automated Card Catalog
• Reading Counts Purple
• Reading Counts Red
• And so on

• Teachers may have classroom goals and individual
  student goals
• Many classrooms compete with each other to earn
  the most points
