2On-line Open Enrollment
- Each fall, there is an Open Enrollment period
during which you may change your employee benefit
elections for the next plan year.
- Ordinarily these are changes you can not make at
any other time in the year unless you experience
a change in family circumstance (e.g., marriage,
divorce, birth, adoption, etc.)
3On-line Open Enrollment
- With the exception of Flexible Spending Accounts
(FSAs), all of your benefit options for this year
will automatically carry over to next year
- NO ACTION IS REQUIRED IF
- You do not want to change any of your benefit
options AND - You do not want to make any pre-tax contributions
to a FSA (for health expenses or dependent care)

(Access Open Enrollment)
5On-line Open Enrollment
- Once you have successfully signed in to
TechWorks, the Open Enrollment box will be
displayed on your personal TechWorks home page
(My Page).
6On-line Open Enrollment
- To help you in reviewing and selecting your
benefit options, review the Resources section
when you go online to access the Open Enrollment
system. It includes items such as
- Significant changes for the coming plan year
- Changes in coverage options
- Information from plan providers.
7On-line Open Enrollment
- Certain changes can NOT be completed through the
online Open Enrollment system. They will be
listed as Plan Changes Not Online when you go
online to access the Open Enrollment system.
- Click on any of the links in this section to find
out how to submit these changes to the Benefits
Department during Open Enrollment.
8Step 1 Access Open Enrollment
- Click on the Access Open Enrollment link when
you are ready to go into the Open Enrollment
system and begin reviewing your coverage and
selecting your elections.
9Step 1 Access Open Enrollment
- Click on the Select button for your Open
Enrollment event.
10Step 2 Select Benefit Options
- A summary of all of your benefit options is
provided in the Enrollment Summary section of
this page.
11Step 2 Select Benefit Options
- For each type of benefit you will see the years
2007 and 2008 - 2007 identifies the benefit plan in which you are
currently enrolled - 2008 identifies the benefit plan selected for the
upcoming plan year
- If you are not enrolled in any plan for a
particular type of benefit, the word Waive will
be displayed.
12Step 2 Select Benefit Options
- The per-pay-period cost of the selected plans is
displayed for each type of benefit. - Costs may be reported on a before-tax or
after-tax basis.

- Click on the Edit button for a particular type of
benefit if you would like to - See more information about the benefit plans
offered - Select a different plan or coverage level.
- As an example, lets enroll in the Vision plan

- Detailed information about the available vision
plan(s) is available by clicking on the links on
this page.
- For example, you can click on the Spectera link
to access detailed information about the plan or
you could click on Search for providers in this
plan to identify local vision care providers who
accept this plan.

- To enroll in the vision plan, click on the button
next to Spectera.

- The information displayed on the page changes
when you select the vision plan

- For this example, lets enroll all of the
dependents in this plan.

- Now that all of your dependents are enrolled in
the plan, click on the Continue button to store
your changes and continue processing.

- Review the information displayed to confirm that
- You have enrolled in the correct plan
- The appropriate individuals are included as
covered dependents for this plan
- The estimated per-pay-period cost appears to be
correct for the selected plan/coverage level.

- If the information is correct, click on the OK
button.
- If you want to make any changes, click on the
Edit button to go back and correct your
information.

- The Vision/Hearing section of the Enrollment
Summary now shows that there is no vision plan
coverage for the current year but it has been
selected for the next plan year.

- You have the option of clicking on another Edit
button to change other benefit elections.
- For this example, there are no other changes to
be made.

- If you are NOT ready to send your changes to the
Benefits Department, click on the Sign Out link
which appears at the top of the page.
- Your changes will be stored until the next time
you sign in to TechWorks and access the Open
Enrollment system during the Open Enrollment
period.

- Scroll down to the bottom of the page if you are
ready to finalize your options and submit your
changes to the Benefits Department.

- The estimated per-pay-period cost of the selected
benefits is displayed.

- If you are ready to finalize your options and
officially send your changes to the Benefits
Department, click on the Submit button.

- Click the Submit button again.

- You have now submitted your changes.
- Recommended action Click on the Print
Elections button to print a confirmation
statement. Once you have submitted your changes,
you can print a confirmation statement at any
point during the Open Enrollment period.

- The status of your Open Enrollment event has
changed from Open to Submitted.
- You can now exit the system by clicking on the
Sign Out link which appears at the top of the
page.

- IMPORTANT NOTE
- If you need to make additional changes and/or
undo changes submitted, you can re-submit
changes as many times as you want during the Open
Enrollment period.
34What should I do if I receive warnings or errors?

- After you click the Submit button, the system may
alert you that there are warnings and/or errors
associated with your submitted changes.

- Most warnings are reminders that some type of
proof or documentation will be required before
your coverage will take effect. -
- This is the symbol displayed for a
warning. - You may choose to ignore warnings and finish
submitting your changes.

- Any errors detected by the system must be
corrected before you can submit your changes to
the Benefits department. -
- This is the symbol displayed for an
error. - Click on the Return button to go back and
correct the error.

- In this example, the error message indicates that
the Optional Life Insurance plan selected from
Met Life to cover your dependents requires that
you also enroll in another benefit plan. - Click on the Return button to review more
information and correct the error.

- Click on the Edit button for the benefit option
that is in error, MetLife Dependent Optional Life.

- There is a message that the employee must also be
enrolled in the MetLife Employee Optional Life
Insurance plan in order to enroll any dependents
in the MetLife Dependent Optional Life Insurance
plan.

- You can choose
- Not to enroll your dependents in this plan by
selecting No, I do not want to enroll OR - To click on the Cancel button and go back to
enroll yourself in the MetLife Employee Optional
Life Insurance plan.

- Click on the Edit button for MetLife Employee
Optional Life to go back and enroll yourself in
the MetLife Employee Optional Life Insurance
plan.

- Go through the steps required to enroll in this
plan and then click the Continue button to store
your changes.

- The next time you submit your changes, the error
has been corrected and there is only a warning
that proof of insurability must be submitted
before coverage will take effect for the
specified plan.
- Now you will be able to click the Continue button
and finish submitting your changes to the
Benefits department.
45Will I receive a confirmation statement?
46Confirmation Statements
- Once you have submitted a change, you will be
able to view and print a confirmation statement
on-line. You can do this at any point during
Open Enrollment.
- After you have clicked the Submit button twice,
the Submit Confirmation page will be displayed.
Click on the Print Elections button.

- Once you have submitted a change, you will be
able to view and print a confirmation statement
on-line. You can do this at any point during
Open Enrollment.

- After Open Enrollment has ended, you will be able
to view a summary of the changes selected for the
next plan year (through the Benefits function in
Employee Self-Service).
