  • Duffy Elementary, Tucson, AZ Marcia Little has
    conducted two popular events this year at her
    school. The first was "Start Your Engines" to
    encourage students to eat breakfast.
  • Every student who participated in school
    breakfast received a car to color and post on the
    cafeteria wall. Students then received a sticker
    to adorn their car each day they returned for
    breakfast.
  • Breakfast participation increased by 50 that
    week!

  • Mitchell Senior High School, Mitchell, SD
  • Approximately 1,000 students visited this first
    annual student health fair, where over 20 booths
    were on display! Students entered in groups,
    receiving a list of questions. To get the
    answers, students visited the booths and talked
    with the representatives.
  • Healthy breakfast items were displayed and
    shared. Students were also able to test hearing,
    vision, sugar-level and fitness, as well as talk
    with eating disorder, and drug and alcohol abuse
    experts. When a student's list of questions was
    answered, it was deposited into a drum from which
    the door prize winners were selected.
  • Prizes included bowling certificates, bicycle
    helmets and movie passes. The public was invited
    to attend the fair for the last hour of each day.

It was evident that the fair had an impact, as
the health fair organizer (Linda Bannwarth,
School Nurse) received numerous phone calls from
parents asking to verify the information their
children brought home from the event!
