1
The Planning, Design and Implementation of a
Hybrid, High School Digital Photography Course
  • by
  • Brenda Schaefer
  • Spring 2007

2
Introduction
  • Project involved the creation of a HYBRID digital
    photography course
  • Students were taught
  • the basics of Digital Photography
  • using regular classroom
  • photojournalism activities
  • the technology and capabilities of Blackboard

3
My Goals
  • First, create a hybrid digital photography class
using a course management system (CMS) for the
    2007 spring semester
  • Second, if the class was successful and the
students and teachers enjoyed learning and
teaching in this manner, as well as if other
staff members had an interest in learning a
course management system, then the district
administrators may also see the relevance of a
CMS such as Blackboard or Moodle and
    purchase/implement a district wide server.
  • Third, to determine if notably seniors would be
    attracted to interest-based courses available
online through the high school for credit or
    non-credit.

Conclusion
  • Students are resilient to learning new
technologies and using them in their learning.
  • Teachers who are comfortable in integrating
technology and accept change will succeed in
    using online and/or blended instruction.
  • Modifications will be made to the materials and
lessons for this Digital Photography I course.
  • The teachers will take into account the student
suggestions as well as continue to seek new
    materials and updates to resources.
  • Upperclassmen possible desire to take
    asynchronous course
  • I will continue to seek out the possibility of my
school districts purchase or implementation of a
    course management system.
