Early Intervening Services
  • The Local Education Agency (LEA) may use up to 15
    percent of the amount the LEA receives under Part
    B of the Act for any fiscal year to develop and
    implement coordinated, early intervening services
    for students in kindergarten through grade 12
    (with a particular emphasis on students in
    kindergarten through grade 3) who are currently
    not identified as needing special education
    services, but who need additional academic and
    behavioral support to succeed in the general
    education environment.

LEA may carry out activities that include
  • Professional development for teachers and other
    staff to enable such personnel to deliver
    scientifically based academic and behavioral
    interventions, and where appropriate, instruction
    on the use of adaptive and instructional software

  • Provide educational and behavioral evaluations,
    services, and supports including scientifically
    based literacy instruction

Charter Schools and Students with Disabilities
  • RSA 194-B3(n) states methods of coordinating
    with pupils local education agency (LEA)
    responsible for matters pertaining to any
    required special education programs or services

  • School District might want to consider creative
    agreements with Charter School to deliver services

  • NHDOE would like to remind School Districts to
    submit applications for the full amount of
    funding
  • NHDOE consistently monitors the school districts
    to ensure that all funds are fully spent
  • Each funding year the NHDOE reviews the grant
    application for ways to streamline the process
