In our country health is a
precious gift

• Here at Campo Maior we dont have hospital,
  just a health centre and two more private clinics
  like the Health Club ( Clube de Saúde), in this
  case a place where you go to the doctor, and not
  to practice sports.

• When we are at the Health Centre, and we just
  have a simple disease, we ask for an appointment
  and if possible with our family doctor.

• If we suffer something serious we ask for an
  emergency appointment.

• Sometimes in the Health Centre we have to
  wait 20 minutes for the appointment and a maximum
  of one or two hours

Unfortunately in our country the health care is
not so good. Luckily we are near Badajoz,
(Spain),

• On the left the ancient hospital of the town. Now
  a residence for old people and a private clinic.

• We are lucky because we also have others
  private organizations like the Health Club.

• and the city of Elvas, 20 km far from here,
  where we have hospitals.

• But of course things are
• better on the health
• club, and other clinics
• like Clinica de S. João
• because they are
• private organizations.

• When we go to the Health Centre in reception
  we must present the User Card, (a card from the
  national health services, of the Ministry of
  Health).
• We can have an appointment in the routine
  services or at the urgency services.

• When we have a serious problem we go to the
  urgency service and there we have a faster
  examination.
• If we go to the doctor for a normal meeting we
  can have a routine appointment. This one has to
  be previously set, (sometimes one or two days
  or even more).

• On the situations in which is necessary to
  make some auxiliary diagnosis like radiography,
  blood analyses, echography, the doctor emits a
  kind of credential for the examination in a
  Public Hospital.

• In the most urgent cases the patients could
  be directly guided to a District or Central
  Hospital according to the doctor decision.

• The doctor can also guides his patients to a
  specialist doctor like dermatologist or others.
  We must mark these appointments some days
  before or even months.

• But nothing is for free. So the patients have
  to pay a tax according to their salary and the
  kind of services.

• Only the person with a poor salary or a
  chronicle disease like diabetes, renal
  insufficiency, drug addiction doesnt pay.
