Frame Index File (FIF) Background
  • Database of RSDs imagery collected from 1943 to
    Present
  • Contains over 475,000 records (from
    approximately 650,000
  • total photographs)
  • Currently used in several in-house programs,
    including as
  • a source for researching orders for
    photographic products

    project (30-001)
  • RollNumber Internal indexing system written on
    Photographic Flight Report (0523CN01)
  • SpotNumber Internal indexing system written on
    Photographic Flight Report (200-898)

    Panchromatic, Infrared)

4
Sources for FIF Validation
  • Photographs
  • Photo Index Map Sheets
  • Photographic Flight Reports

5
Example of Photo Center Point Positioning Errors

FIF Cleanup will support the proposed Aerial
Photo Ordering System
  • Will allow NOAA to make its data holdings
    available more accurately and reliably
  • Will help to automate the research, discovery,
and ordering process of remotely sensed imagery
  • Will assist in reducing the number of errors
that occur in the ordering process
