Every Child Matters

Over the last school year, one in ten schools
have begun operating as extended schools,
providing a core offer of childcare or activities
for children during term time.
Government is now urging private sector providers
to actively seek out and get involved in their
local extended schools programme.
Were not expecting teachers to deliver this
service but for schools to work with providers.

Extended Provision

Greenacres Primary School, one of the larger
county schools, has recently extended their after
school provision, which over 50 children now
attend
French4children has been running as an after
school club for many years at our school, and
this year we have extended the Clubs4children
provision to include Drama ICT. The children
are thoroughly enjoying all clubs, and the staff
running them are great.
Bob Wood is, like many Heads, looking at the
longer term
If Clubs4children didnt run these clubs, they
probably wouldnt happen in school. We are now
looking towards Extended Schools, and hopefully
Clubs4children can be involved.

An exciting agenda

Schools are beginning to work closely with
providers, in order to ensure that extended
services become a reality and are the best they
can be.
The remodelling process takes schools through six
stages and throughout the process schools are
encouraged to draw on the expertise of respected
local providers.

Discover

Schools are encouraged to
Identify opportunities for collaboration with
other organisations
Consider the viability of the different options
and which option to take forward.
Consider what to charge, and what families will
be willing/able to pay

Deliver

Once the school has decided on the provision
required, the school and outside agencies draw up
an action plan to deliver the service.
Where schools collaborate with one established
provider, there will be fewer steps for them to
take, since the provider will already have
policies and procedures in place, which will
facilitate a smooth delivery.

was charged with finding a provider and was
introduced by Lyn Reynolds, Remodelling Adviser
at the L.A., to Clubs4children
Clubs4children have a fantastic website and
have come highly recommended from various
authorities and schools.
The school fund the club, and find it very
good value for money, with competitive rates!

The children show great enthusiasm and
commitment, which is down to your excellent
leaders, who have made the programmes exciting,
enjoyable, interesting and entertaining.
Parents have only made positive comments
about their childrens attitude and progress.
Club Leaders are punctual and polite, relate
well to the children and have been readily
accepted by my staff.
Thank you on behalf of the school for your
commitment to giving children invaluable and
worthwhile experiences
