Title: NAGLE HOUSE THE IMPORTANCE OF HIVAIDS

1
NAGLE HOUSE THE IMPORTANCE OF HIV/AIDS
  • WE CARE ABOUT HIV/AIDS.
  • IT IS AN IMPORTANT ISSUE IN OUR COMMUNITY AND
    COUNTRY.

2
DOES HIV/AIDS AFFECT WOMEN DIFFERENTLY THAN
MEN?ARE MEN OR WOMEN MORE AT RISK OF CATCHING
HIV? IF SO HOW AND WHY?
  • Both men and women are at risk of contracting the
virus as long as they are sexually active or
    exposed to it.

3
WHO IS MORE VULNERABLE TO ACQUIRING HIV IN YOUR
COUNTRY? MEN, WOMEN, CHILDREN, YOUTH,WHAT AGE?
WHY ARE THEY MOST AT RISK?
  • The youth is more vulnerable because
  • of their increased sexual activities
  • of their lack of knowledge of the disease and how
    deadly it is.
  • most adults take advantage of them.

4
WHAT EFFECT HAS HIV/AIDS HAD ON YOUR COMMUNITY?
  • It has broken up the culture especially with
    regards to extended families.
  • It is a taboo in my culture to suffer from
HIV/AIDS and you are definitely rejected from the
society and from your beloved ones.

5
WHAT EFFECT HAS HIV/AIDS HAD ON LIFE EXPECTANCY
IN MY COUNTRY?
  • Life expectancy has drastically decreased from
approximately 65years down to 35 years.

6
WHAT ARE THE ECONOMIC IMPACTS OF HIV/AIDS?
  • HIV/AIDS has affected the economy of our country
since it has affected the economically active age
    group(19-55 years).
  • More economic resources are being spent on
HIV/AIDS research in the bid to find a cure.

7
HIV/AIDS TESTING
  • One can be tested for HIV/AIDS.
  • It is important for one to be tested for HIV/AIDS
so as to know ones status to avoid spreading the
    disease to others unknowingly.
  • It is quite easy to get tested for HIV/AIDS,
however the testing centers are confined to
    urban areas only.
  • If someone is worried that they might have been
exposed to HIV/AIDS they should get tested
    immediately.
  • It takes approximately 1-2 weeks to get your
    HIV/AIDS results.

8
WHAT SHOULD SOMEONE WITH HIV DO TO PROLONG THEIR
LIFE?
  • One should have a balanced diet.
  • Exercise regularly.
  • Live under healthy conditions.
  • Women should avoid falling pregnant as pregnancy
    weakens the immune system.
  • Practice safe sex to avoid re-infection.
  • Learn to live positively with HIV.

9
ARE INJECTING DRUGS AN ISSUE WHERE YOU LIVE?
  • Injecting drugs and tattooing are not an issue
    in our community.
  • Piercing and sharing razor blades is quite common
    where we live.
