  • Convene and align key stakeholders
  • Support facilitate design of end-to-end
    approaches national initiatives
  • Assist initiatives raise funds other resources
  • Provision of global services (procurement of
    hardware software, training, networking,
    knowledge human capacity development)

The Global Situation
  • 370m of 1.3 billion school aged children not in
    school
  • MDG 2 universal primary education, 1535m
    educated, trained teachers by 2015
  • 867m adults are illiterate
  • 64 are women
  • Also AIDS, poverty, political unrest economic
    instability
  • Problem concentrated in Africa, South Asia,
    Caribbean, Latin America and the Middle East

The End-to-End Model
  • Transforming current fragmented, supply-driven,
    largely uncoordinated pilot efforts into
    efficient, demand-driven, coordinated end-to-end
    systems
  • Catalyse and support initiatives under the
    leadership of the local Ministries to plan
    implement coordinated national ICT for Education
    strategies
  • Convene all key actors
  • Match needs to resources more efficient and
    effectively
