Upcoming Events for POLI2P42

• There will be a midterm test held in class on
  February 7 (one week from today)
• 2-page term paper proposal with bibliography
  including no less that 6 peer-reviewed scholarly
  articles due by e-mail to your seminar leader no
  later than February 27 (and preferably sooner)

Midterm Test

• There will be a choice of three questions answer
  any two of them
• You will be examined on all 5 lectures to date
  (including the one today) and chapters 2, 3, 4
  5 of course text Governance in China

Examined

• The geographical, cultural, historical background
  to contemporary Chinese politics
• The ideals of the Chinese Revolution of 1949 and
  the economic policies and political campaign of
  the Mao era (1949 1976)
• The impacts negative and positive of opening and
  reform from 1978 til today
• Law. Guanxi and corruption in China today
• The mandate, functioning and structure of the
  Chinese Communist Party and of the Government of
  the Peoples Republic of China
• Censorship and Culture
