Pre-requisites needed in order to participate in
student teaching
  • Appropriate Grade Point Average (GPA)
  • Successful Completion of Course Pre-requisites
  • Student Teaching Placement Form
  • Profile Sheet
  • Police Record Check Screening

Appropriate Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA)
  • Graduate Students
  • A minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA in graduate course
    work
  • Undergraduate Students
  • A minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA in undergraduate
    course work along with successful completion of
    course pre-requisites

Student Teaching Placement Form and Profile Sheet
  • You must complete both the Student Teaching
    Placement Form and the Student Teacher Profile
    (http//www.medaille.edu/studentteaching/forms.asp
    )
  • Placement forms may be submitted to this office
    electronically through the link emailed to
    students Medaille email accounts, or via paper
    copy, by the deadline. Paper forms are found at
    http//www.medaille.edu/studentteaching/forms.asp.
    Forms are due by September 15th for Spring
    semester placements, and February 15th for Fall
    semester placements.
  • Student Teacher Profiles must be emailed to
    stuteach_at_medaille.edu by the deadline noted
    above.
  • Failure to meet the deadline could delay or
    prevent your student teaching placement
    opportunity

Police Record Check Screening
  • All Canadian education students are required to
    complete a satisfactory police record check
    screening prior to participation in student
    teaching or any voluntary experiences with
    children

  • Students will need to contact the school board
    assigned to determine whether the board will
    either (i) process the screening or (ii) refer
    them to a local police station
  • Select boards require a student process screening
    via the OESC (Ontario Education Services
    Corporation), www.oesc-cseo.org or 416.205.9545
  • Currently, Niagara Catholic, District School
    Boards of Niagara, Peel Public and Halton Public
    require OESC screening

  • Initial an optional credential file by contacting
