To bring, or not to bring

• Laptops (its dusty out there!)
• Your primary writing task will be doing your
  journal - if youre more comfortable on your
  computer then bring it - if you just want to
  write in a notebook, bring that
• Plan on doing field notes in a small notebook
• Email connectivity
• Worst case you will be able to use one of the
  station computers to read/send email
• Best case you will be able to connect your own
  computer to the network
• As of this point, we dont know if the best case
  will be possible

• VERY, VERY IMPORTANT !!!!!!
• Plan on doing a lot of it
• Hopefully youve been writing already
• Pre-trip
• Expectations, what you look forward to, what
  youre worried about, what do you think youre
  going to get out of the trip
• During trip - journal components
• Science field notes
• Exploration field notes
• Classroom leveraging notes
• Personal learning and experiences

• Station has U.S. power (100 v 60Hz)
• Station uses both U.S. and Chile plugs (2 round
  prongs)
• Anyplace else will use Chile plugs
• Plug adapter kit available at Radio Shack
• Most computers, hair dryers have power conversion
