OBJECTIVE OF PRESENTATION
  • This workshop will center around understanding
    "motivation" - what it is, how people
    are motivated - and "teenagers" - who they are,
    what they are like, what their needs are, what
    their goals are, what they like. There will be
    time for practice on the concepts shared with
    participants through motivating activities aimed
    at getting teens to work and learn.

WHAT IS MOTIVATION?
  • FORCE THAT DRIVES YOU TO SATISFY A NEED
  • MOTIVE AN EMOTION, DESIRE, PHYSIOLOGICAL NEED,
    OR SIMILAR IMPULSE ACTING AS AN INCITEMENT TO
    ACTION

  • Motivation is a state of cognitive and

MOTIVATION
  • Motivation involves reason for doing something,
    deciding to do something and persisting
    (sustaining the effort).
  • Students must perceive the value of the activity
    and be aroused to carry it out.
  • Conditions for arousal activity must not be too
    complex, students must not worry about failing,
    students must know what they are doing and how
    well they are doing it.

Motivation is the key!!!!
  • Instrumental need and desire to use knowledge
    as a tool or instrument to satisfy a different
    need
  • Integrative having the knowledge is the need to
    be satisfied
  • Task motivation kinds of activities proposed by
    teachers challenge, entice to think, mental
    effort
  • Intrinsic need to learn comes from within
    learner
  • Extrinsic external influences to learn

What motivates?Activities that ....
  • make one think and reflect.
  • entail an effort to comprehend and to produce.
  • enable learner to add something new to his life.
  • allow the learner to better understand himself
    and the world surrounding him.
  • challenge learners to make a mental effort.
  • are pleasing to the senses auditory, visual,
    kinesthetic.
  • cathartic.
  • learner can relate to, get involved in.

The key is to keep them busy doing something
enticing and engaging !!!

  • -try to have a class routine
  • -propose concrete activities
  • -propose tasks
  • -give them time to rehearse and practice before
    performing
