Later Ahmad told somebody what Omar said. He used

Reported Questions
A) Wh-questions
Wh- questions have a word like when, what, which,
etc both in direct speech and in reported speech.
In a reported question, the subject comes before
the verb as in a statement. See the examples
below
Direct The police officer said to us, where
are you going?
Reported The police officer asked us where we
were going.

Maha asked if / whether there was a café nearby.

of what was said rather than the exact words. In
reported speech we often change the actual words
