  • 10 I rejoice greatly in the Lord that at last you
    have renewed your concern for me. Indeed, you
    have been concerned, but you had no opportunity
    to show it.
  • 11 I am not saying this because I am in need, for
    I have learned to be content whatever the
    circumstances.
  • 12 I know what it is to be in need, and I know
    what it is to have plenty. I have learned the
    secret of being content in any and every
    situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether
    living in plenty or in want.
  • 13 I can do everything through him who gives me
    strength.

PAUL was writing the book of Philippians as a
Roman prisoner.
  • Paul says that he had learned to be content.
  • Paul could learn, we can learn.
  • CONTENTMENT comes as a gift, a gift we can learn
    to use in our lives.

    of what the circumstances in his life were.

Contentment is something that we all strive for,
the problem is that the world tells us to all
look in the wrong place, so we either become
apathetic where we dont feel anything or we
spend our lives thinking you know if I only

THE FIVE FOES OF CONTENTMENT
  • COVETOUSNESS an envious eagerness to possess
    something
  • The secret of contentment is knowing how to
    enjoy what you have and being able to lose all
    desire for things beyond your reach.

  • 2. UNBELIEF a rejection of belief the
    withholding of belief doubt incredulity
    skepticism
  • God instructs us to be content , and like
    every command from God the command of contentment
    is based solely on His promises.

  • 3. ENVY spite and resentment at seeing the
    success of another a feeling of grudging
    admiration
  • Envy is a dangerous evil which must be wiped
    out from our hearts.

  • Galatians 519-26 Now the works of the flesh
    are evident sexual immorality, impurity,
    sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife,
    jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions,
    divisions, envy drunkenness, orgies, and things
    like these. I warn you, as I warned you before,
    that those who do such things will not inherit
    the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit
    is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness,
    goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control
    against such things there is no law. And those
    who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the
    flesh with its passions and desires. If we live
    by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit.
    Let us not become conceited, provoking one
    another, envying one another.

  • WE MUST CULTIVATE AN ATTITUDE OF
    CONTENTMENT.Paul says in Philippians 411 that
    he had to learn how to be content. Contentment
    must be cultivated in our lives. We need to start
    looking for the blessings in our lives and be
    thankful for them. God says in Matthew 2521
    that if we can be loyal with small things, then
    He will let us care for much greater things. I
    believe that if we can learn to be content with
    what God has blessed us with now the he will
    allow us to be content with greater things.

  • CONTENTMENT
  • is not denying your true feelings. It isnt
    pretending things are okay when theyre not. It
    is know that God is with you in every situation.
    God is bigger than all your problems. Contentment
    isnt complacency it is doing our part and
    leaving the results with God.

  • The secret of contentment is following Jesus
    with all of your heart, until you do that nothing
    is going to satisfy you in life.

    life worthy of the Lord and may please him in
    every way bearing fruit in every good work,

    strengthened with all power according to his
