were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
  • At times, prophets were unsure of what they spoke
  • 1 Pet 110-11, Concerning this salvation, the
prophets, who spoke of the grace that was to come
to you, searched intently and with the greatest
care, trying to find out the time and
circumstances to which the Spirit of Christ in
them was pointing when he predicted the
sufferings of Christ and the glories that would
    follow.

4
at various Times and Different Ways
  • Gods revelation did not come all at once
  • God used different methods
  • Visions, dreams, symbols and signs
  • We have a God who has clearly revealed Himself as
    One who speaks
  • He communicates His will to mankind
  • What He revealed through the prophets is
    wonderful
  • But now Gods Spokesman in these last days

5
In these Last Days
  • Literally at the end of these days
  • Closing period of the Jewish age (Milligan)
  • Period of the Messiah
  • Isa 22, In the last days the mountain of the
LORD's temple will be established as chief among
the mountains it will be raised above the hills,
and all nations will stream to it.
  • Micah 41, In the last days the mountain of the
LORD's temple will be established as chief among
the mountains it will be raised above the hills,
and peoples will stream to it.

6
In these Last Days
  • Special reference to the age of the Messiah
  • Apostles saw it as a time of fulfillment
  • Acts 216-17, No, this is what was spoken by the
prophet Joel "'In the last days, God says, I
will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons
and daughters will prophesy, your young men will
see visions, your old men will dream dreams.

7
In these Last Days
  • Final phase of history
  • After the first coming of Christ continuing until
his coming again and consummation of all things
  • Heb 926, Then Christ would have had to suffer
many times since the creation of the world. But
now he has appeared once for all at the end of
the ages to do away with sin by the sacrifice of
    himself.
  • 1 Pet 120, He was chosen before the creation of
the world, but was revealed in these last times
    for your sake.
  • 1 Cor 1011, These things happened to them as
examples and were written down as warnings for
us, on whom the fulfillment of the ages has
    come.

God has spoken to us by His Son
  • God has spoken once again, but note the contrast
