Student Comments
  • The first time I was introduced to inclusion, it
concerned me that the teachers were not receiving
the training they needed to be able to assist
student with diverse needs. As a future
educator, I was worried that my training in a
general education setting wouldnt be enough in a
    mainstreamed classrooms.
  • Melinda, V.S.U. Junior

17
Student Comments
  • I changed my major to Interrelated Special
Education /Early Childhood to serve ALL students
effectively. I feel that in order to be a good
teacher I need to have the knowledge to teach ALL
students. I really just want to change the world
    in my own way!!!
  • Shannon, V.S.U. Junior

18
Student Comments
  • For the past 8 years, I have worked with
children with and without disabilities in many
different aspects. I have always wanted to be an
elementary school teacher and ever since I worked
with the students with autism in my high school,
I have wanted to be able to work with these
students more. The only problem was that I
didnt want to give up working with regular
education students. Inclusion will be more
successful with teachers who know information on
all students and also the students wont be
excluded just because of a disability.
  • April, V.S.U. Junior

19
Student Comments
  • I chose this program because I wanted to be
prepared to teach ALL children. I also am very
    interested in pre-kindergarten special education.
Special needs students are being included in
general education classrooms, and I want to be
prepared to modify lessons and pass understanding
and acceptance to ALL students and teachers.
  • Jennifer, V.S.U. Junior

20
Student Comments
  • I feel it is an honor and privilege to be a part
of this new program. I feel the 12 of us in this
program will be one step ahead of the other
educators in the universities today. Being
    interrelated special education and early
childhood, we will be more prepared to teach all
children. As a teacher, I am a supplier of
knowledge to ALL students no matter what level.
  • Kelly, Junior
