German is Fun!
  • In German you will
  • sing, dance, and celebrate German holidays,
  • learn interesting facts about German history and
    culture,
  • be able to take part in our German Exchange
    Program,
  • write and perform skits,
  • make videos,
  • go on field trips,
  • play games,
  • and much more!

German will help you get into college!
  • Colleges require at least 2 years of foreign
    language, but many look for 3 and more.
  • German students are eligible to become members of
    the Foreign Language Honor Society.
  • EHS German students are eligible for induction
    into Delta Epsilon Phi the National German
    Honor Society.
  • Levels III, IV, and V are eligible for college
    credit through USML.
  • Levels IV and V are weighted grades.
  • German students have the opportunity to take the
    AP test.
  • German will help you improve your MAP, ACT and
    SAT scores.

  • The first group of German settlers came to the
    new world 317 years ago.
  • Almost 25 of US citizens are of German origin.
  • English is a West Germanic language and many of
    our words and structures derive from and are
    similar to German (Friend Freund).
  • Jeans, Ketchup, Candy Corn, Tootsie Rolls,
    X-Rays, Pretzels, our image of Santa Claus, and
    so many more items were brought to us by Germans
    or German-Americans.
