1. SET THE RIGHT DEFAULT TEMPERATURE
This year, the Bureau of Energy Efficiency
(BEE)instructed AC manufacturers to retain their
equipment's default temperature at24C. The
default temperature before the legislation was
20 degrees. According to studies, every degree
we raise thetemperature saves roughly 6 of
electricity. And the lower you set
yourtemperature, the longer your air
conditioner's compressors run, increasing
yourelectricity bill.

2. SHUT DEVICES SEALED ROOMS CONSERVE ENERGY
Ensure that all of your windows are well shut
and thatno cold air escapes. Pull the drapes
down to keep the sun's heat out of yourroom,
which can put more strain on your air
conditioner.

You can switch it on for a few hours and then
turn itoff for another hour or two. The space
remains comfortably cool whileconserving a
significant amount of electricity.

When the air conditioner is on, turn on the
ceiling fan. They work together to make the room
ventilated and cool air flowing in all
directions. You will also not have to continue
lowering the temperature. Start with turning on
the fan to drive out the hot air in your room,
then turn on the AC.

All of the dirt that builds in the ducts and
vents of the AC makes it work harder to ensure
that cold air enters your room. The energy usage
of an air conditioner can reduce by 5-15 per
cent by replacing filthy filters with new ones.
