    was critical

    Counties across the Allegheny River
  • 13 intersections and 3 weave conditions within a
    confined area
  • Project aims to reduce weave areas, eliminate
    skewed intersections, and reduce travel times

  • 12M Renovation and conversion of old Mon Con
    railroad bridge to a 2-lane vehicular bridge
    (June 2000)
  • 10M Conversion and rehabilitation of parallel
    Hot Metal Steel Bridge for pedestrians and
    bicyclists (November 2007)
  • Both offer direct connection between 2 of the
    citys most significant redevelopment areas
    Technology Corridor and the South Side Works.
  • Both bridges are perfect examples of the
    retention of historic structures for uses
    different from their original intent.

    various trail and historic preservation groups,

    Allegheny Passage, a hiking/biking trail
    beginning
  • at Point State Park and extending to Cumberland,
    MD

  • Construction cost 725,000 (approx.)

    Rices Landing and Cumberland Townships
  • Greene Trail Phase 1b project covers 1.7 miles
    from Rices Landing to Crucible
  • Construction began in August 2006 and completed
    in December 2006
  • Total construction cost of 475,000, funded
    through transportation enhancement grants
