WHAT IS GST
  • GST is an indirect tax which has replaced many
indirect taxes in india. The goods and service
tax act was passed in the parliament on 29th
march 2017. The act came into effect on 1st july
2017 goods services tax law in india is a
    comprehensive, multi-stage, destination-based tax
that is levied on every value addition. In simple
words, goods and service tax (GST) is an indirect
tax levied on the supply of goods and services.
This law has replaced many indirect tax laws that
    previously existed in india.

ADVANTAGES Of GST
  • Advantages for the Government
  • 1. Improved environment for compliance as all
returns are to be filed online, input credits to
be verified online, encouraging more paper trail
of transactions at each level of supply chain.
  • 2. Will  mitigate cascading of taxes as input tax
credit will be available across goods and
services at every stage of supply.
  • 3. Similar uniform SGST and  IGST rates will
reduce the incentive for evasion by eliminating
rate arbitrage between neighboring states and
that between intra and inter-state sales.
  • 4. Common procedures for registration of
taxpayers, refund of taxes, uniform  formats of
tax return, common tax base, common system of
classification of goods and services will lend
    greater certainty to taxation system.

  • 3. Will mitigate cascading of taxes as input tax
credit will be available across goods and
services at every stage of supply.
  • 4. Reduction in compliance costs - no multiple
record keeping for a variety of taxes - so lesser
investment of resources and manpower in
    maintaining records.
  • 5. More efficient neutralization of taxes
especially for exports thereby making our
products more competitive in the international
market and give boost to indian exports.

    of taxation.
