  • Geo-Denver Conference Feb. 18-21, Denver, CO.
    (874 attendees, 82 exhibitors)
  • Partnered with the Met Section on a specialty
    seminar entitled Engineering of GeoHazards held
    in New York, NY May 16-17, 2007
  • Served as a non-financial co-sponsor of the 1st
    North American Landslide Conference in Vail, CO
    June 3-7, 2007. The conference was organized by
    AEG and attracted over 400 attendees and 30
    exhibitors.
  • Hosted the 7th International Symposium of Field
    Measurements in Geomechanics (FMGM) September
    24-27, Boston, MA. (358 attendees, 32
    exhibitors)

2007 G-I Achievements
  • The G-I facilitated a coalition of
    geo-organizations called the Geo-Coalition in
    Reston on May 21-22, 2007. This group effectively
    replaces the Geo-Council and will
  • Create a sense of Geo-Community
  • Encourage communication, cooperation, and
    collaboration among its members
  • Identify opportunities for members to endorse
    common positions and provide a powerful common
    voice to influence the geo-future
  • Publicize, promote, and encourage the
    coordination of members, products, and events

  • 3 New G-I Chapters Maryland G-I Chapter San
    Antonio, TX G-I Chapter and Alabama G-I Chapter.
  • 1 New G-I Graduate Student Organization
    University of Oklahoma.
  • 22 New Geotechnical Special Publications.
  • G-I Board hosted a reception for Boston area G-I
    members at the FMGM conference in September.
  • In December 2007, the G-I, on its web site
    launched a new Members-Only page featuring a
    Question of the Month.
  • Created a Board-level Student Participation
    Committee to help increase student involvement in
    G-I activities.
