About Generic Allegra

• Generic Allegra is the generic equivalent of the
  brand Allegra.
• The generic version is available since the year
  2011.
• Generic Allegra contains Fexofenadine
  Hydrochloride as the active pharmaceutical
  ingredient.
• It belongs to a class of medicines known as
  Antihistamines.
• It is used in the treatment of allergic symptoms
  such as runny nose, watery eyes, itching etc.
• It is a non-sedating antihistamine, so it does
  not make the patients sleepy.

Mechanism of action

• Histamine is an endogenous biochemical present in
  the body which produces allergic reactions when
  the body comes in contact with a foreign
  substance called allergen.
• Histamine in response to an allergen produces
  allergy symptoms like sneezing, itching, runny
  nose and watery eyes.
• Fexofenadine, the active constituent present in
  Generic Allegra prevents the action of histamine
  which give relief from the allergic symptoms
  produced by histamine

Onset of Action and Duration of Effect

• The action of this medicine starts within 1-2
  hours after oral administration
• The effect of this medicine it lasts for an
  average duration of 12-14 hours.

Directions for use

• Do not limit or exceed the dose and duration of
  treatment than advised by the physician.
• Consume this medicine with glass full of water.

Precautions and Warnings

• Tell your complete medical history to your
  physician.
• Consult your physician before taking this
  medicine if you are pregnant or planning
  pregnancy or are breast feeding.
• Fruit juices of fruits like grapes, oranges and
  apple should not be consumed until the treatment
  with this medication is completed.
• Avoid taking antacids containing aluminum
  and magnesium for 15 minutes before or 15 minutes
  after taking this medicine as antacids can
  decrease the absorption of the active
  constituent.
• Also, avoid meals rich in fat content while
  taking this medicine as they decrease the
  absorption of this medicine in the body by 50 .

What is to be done in case of an overdose?

• Call your doctor right away if you experience
  overdose symptoms such as dizziness, dry mouth,
  along with aggravation of the usual side effects.

What is to be done in case of a missed dose?

• Take the missed dose of this medicine as soon as
  you remember.
• You can skip the dose if its almost the time for
  next dose.
• Do not take extra dose to compensate for a missed
  dose.
