Title: Breast Augmentation (Breast Enlargement Surgery) - Cost Comparison, Complication, Risk and Recovery

1
Breast Augmentation (Breast Enlargement Surgery)
  • Cost Comparison, Complication, Risk and Recovery

2
Breast Augmentation (Breast Enlargement Surgery)
  • Breast augmentation is a procedure to increase
breast size and enhance breast shape, typically
through the placement of silicone or saline
    breast implants. From a cosmetic
surgeon's perspective, the ultimate goal of
breast augmentation is to enhance a patient's
natural proportions and create a more
    symmetrical, aesthetically pleasing breast
profile. The exact procedure is tailored to meet
    a woman's individual needs.
  • Breast augmentation involves using breast
implants or fat transfer to increase the size of
your breasts. Breast augmentation can also
restore breast volume lost after weight reduction
or pregnancy, achieve a more rounded breast
shape or improve natural breast size asymmetry.

3
How is a breast augmentation procedure performed?
  • In breast augmentation using implants, your
surgeon makes an incision, lifts the breast
tissue, creates a pocket in the chest/breast area
and places an implant in the pocket.
  • An additional option for breast augmentation
is autologous fat transfer, a process in which
your surgeon removes your own fat,
using liposuction, from a fat-yielding body part
(such as your abdomen, thighs, or flanks)
processes it and then injects it into your
breasts. This procedure is currently considered
experimental, due to a limited history of data,
but the process has shown promise.

4
Are you a good candidate for breast augmentation?
  • The following are some common reasons why you may
    want to consider breast augmentation
  • You believe your breasts are too small for your
    body.
  • You feel self-conscious wearing a swimsuit or
    form-fitting or low-cut tops.
  • Clothes that fit your hips are too large at the
    bust line.
  • Your breasts have become smaller or less firm
    after you've had children.
  • Your breasts have become smaller due to weight
    loss.
  • One of your breasts is notice ably smaller than
    the other.

5
Reasons for Breast Augmentation
  • Hereditary Some women are simply born with small
breasts, or with breasts of different sizes. This
is completely normal, but if it's something that
bothers you, breast augmentation may help you
    feel better about your appearance.
  • Pregnancy or Breast Feeding After you've had a
baby, your breasts may not look the way they used
to. They may have a stretched appearance, or even
look deflated, if you breast fed your children.
Breast augmentation can give you that volume
    back.

6
Reasons for Breast Augmentation
  • Weight Loss If your goal was to lose weight, and
    you achieved it, congratulations! Unfortunately,
the breasts are often one of the first places
women lose weight, so you may have lost some of
your curves. Get them back with breast
    augmentation.
  • Aging As you age, you may begin to notice a loss
of fullness in your breasts. This is a natural
part of aging, but with breast augmentation, you
    can look younger, longer.
  • Mastectomy Maybe you've bravely fought breast
cancer-and won! This may mean you had to undergo
a partial or even a full mastectomy. You can
recover that part of your femininity with breast
    augmentation.

What are the pros and cons of Breast Augmentation?
  • pros of Breast Augmentation?
  • Breast Augmentation is a long-term solution for
    achieving an ideal figure.
  • You will look better in clothes and swimwear.
  • You will have a more youthful-looking figure.
  • cons of Breast Augmentation?
  • Breast Augmentation requires monitoring.
  • Implants will eventually need to be replaced.
  • Normal surgical risks are involved.

8
Types of Breast Augmentation
  • Saline breast augmentation
  • Saline breast augmentation is filled with sterile
salt water. Should the implant shell leak, a
saline implant will collapse and the saline will
be absorbed and naturally expelled by the body.
  • Saline breast augmentation provides a uniform
shape, firmness and feel, and is FDA-approved for
augmentation in women age 18 or older.

9
Types of Breast Augmentation
  • Structured saline breast augmentation
  • Structured saline breast augmentation is filled
with sterile salt water, and contains an inner
structure which aims to make the implant feel
    more natural.
  • Silicone breast Augmentation
  • Silicone breast augmentation is filled with
silicone gel. The gel feels a bit more
like natural breast tissue. If the implant leaks,
the gel may remain within the implant shell, or
may escape into the breast implant pocket.

10
Types of Breast Augmentation
  • Gummy bear breast augmentation
  • Form-stable implants are sometimes referred to
as gummy bear breast implants because they
maintain their shape even when the implant shell
    is broken.
  • The consistency of the silicone gel inside the
implant is thicker than traditional silicone gel
implants. These implants are also firmer than
    traditional implants.
  • Shaped gummy bear breast implants have more
projection at the bottom and are tapered towards
the top. If a shaped implant rotates, it may lead
to an unusual appearance of the breast that
requires a separate procedure to correct.
