Use of ICT in Evaluation-On-Demand Examination
  • NIOS has Conceptualised and operationalised the
    concept of On-Demand Examination (ODE) at
    Secondary Stage.
  • ODE system has enabled NIOS students to take up
    examinations on any day of his or her choice in
    the subject s/he is ready for.
  • Learner centric Examination System

Development of Question Bank
  • A huge Item/Question Bank covering all the
    subjects has been developed.
  • The Question bank contains a huge database of
    various types of questions such as multiple
    choice questions, short questions, very short
    questions and long questions.
  • These questions are from all objective areas
    covering Knowledge, Understanding, Application
    and skill.

Generation of Question Booklet
  • A question booklet having defined number of items
    is generated randomly.
  • It is based on the paper design and blue print of
    the question booklet.
  • All such generated question booklet are different
    from each other.
  • The difficulty level of different question
    booklets has been maintained.
  • The question booklet is of equivalent standard
    with NIOS public exam and other board

Implementation
  • The first functional ODE Centre started from 8th
    February, 2005 at NIOS HQ. New Delhi
  • Currently the capacity of ODE centre is for 25
    students per day on every Tuesday Wednesday
  • The conduct of ODE is monitored through CCTV
    installed in the ODE examination hall.
  • Practical exams are conducted at one of the AI
    named Fr Agnels School, Gautam Nagar, New Delhi
    on every Friday.

Evaluation Result Declaration
  • Evaluation pattern practice are same as
    followed by all Examination Board.
  • Each QB has a unique fictitious QBCode.
  • The flap with real Rollno is removed and is sent
    for evaluation with QBCode only.
  • The evaluation of the question booklets are done
    by a panel of examiners in the spot evaluation
    mode.
  • The result ODE is declared on the last day of the
    month and published through NIOS web site.

Expansion of ODE
  • The ODE Centres are being planned to be opened at
    NIOS Regional Centres in the next phase during
    April 2005- March 2006.
