  • Born September 4, 1848 Chelsea Mass.
  • In 1864, at the age of 16 he joined the army.
  • Worked with Alexander Graham Bell and drew up the
    telephone.
  • Worked for U.S. Electric Lighting Company and was
    to draw up a patent for the light bulbs and
    lamps.
  • 1884 worked with Thomas Edison to be the first to
    patent the light bulb.
  • Wrote a book, Incandescent Electric Lighting A
    Practical Description of the Edison System.
  • One of 28 members of Edison Pioneers, only
    African-American in such a highly selective
    group.
  • 1922 quit consulting result of failing eye sight.
  • 1924 his wife died
  • Died December 11, 1928

  • Moors Charity School to learn English.
  • 1763 revealed a trading company.
  • Married three times.
  • 1775 went to England to meet with the King to
    help recover their lands.
  • He led four of the six nations in the attacks
    against the New York frontier.
  • He tried to arrange a settlement between the
    Iroquois and the US.
  • Later years he translated passages of the Old and
    New Testament into the Mohawk language.
  • Died in 1807 on the reservation

  • Born May 19, 1922 and raised in San Pedro, birth
    name of Mary Nakahara.
  • Her parents were Japanese immigrants.
  • After the bombing of Pearl Harbor, her and her
    family were imprisoned in internment camps.
  • Married after leaving the camp and moved to New
    York City.
  • Grassroots movement to have safer streets and
    integrated education.
  • 1963 met and worked beside Malcolm X.
  • She has helped release political prisoners.
  • A huge supporter of civil rights, involved in
    multicultural organizations, and in Japanese
    Reparations.
  • Shes currently working to support reparations
    for African Americans.

  • She was born July 6, 1907 but often told people
    her birth date was July 7, 1910.
  • At the age 6, she was stricken with polio.
  • September 17, 1925 she was in a serious bus
    accident, and broke just about all her bones.
  • She began to paint while she was forced to lay in
    bed.
  • In 1929, she married Diego Rivera which was a
    famous Mexican muralist.
  • Were divorced in 1940 but only lasted for a year
    and were back together. Their marriage consisted
    of many affairs, creative bonding, and hate.
  • She killed Leon Trotsky which was the first
    affair she had, she was arrested for his murder
    but got let go.
  • 1953 she had her first exhibit in Mexico to show
    off her work (paintings and photos).
  • She died July 13, 1954. no official autopsy was
    done but think it was suicide.
