High Level Summary Final Defense is an action
shooter that leverages the very best of retro
arcade gaming with state-of-the-art 3D visuals
and multiplayer technologies. Players are
immersed in three simultaneous layers (land, air,
and outer space) of high-octane, rapid-fire,
tactical solo or strategic multiplayer game
environments. In co-op play, each players
skill-set is combined to form a precision
task-force thats greater than the sum of its
parts.

Back Story A mysterious, aggressive invading
force has destroyed Earths deep-space,
low-orbit, and land-based military defenses with
a devastating digital virus. The only remaining
outpost is a secret legion of elite pilots, deep
within an underground hanger codename Final
Defense. Armed with a small fleet of GRYPHONs
(experimental, bleeding-edge assault vehicles
capable of land, air, or space combat), the Final
Defense teams quick reflexes and strategic
teamwork is humankinds last hope against the
alien onslaught.

Enter The Gryphon
As Gryphon transforms into different state, the
camera view repositions, causing the core game
interaction to switch rapidly to a different yet
familiar classic arcade mechanic.

Gameplay Land Mode
Land Mode (Inspiration Moon
Patrol)? Side-scrolling tank action. In Land
Configuration, the GRYPHON features six
all-terrain wheels, a cannon
with an 180 degree attack range and deflector
shield. It has jump jets to avoid ground
obstacles or mines. The GRYPHON in this
configuration attacks ground targets assault
vehicles from front or behind, military stations,
or enemy generators. Main enemy land units will
be armoured ground vehicles, ground troops, gun
emplacements, and low altitude aircrafts like
bombers, tank busters, and mech-drones attempting
to lock a 'beam' attack target upon your GRYPHON.
Players in the air can join players in Land Mode
as they swoop down for rail-based attack runs to
assist their roving teammates. Land mode players
see them from side-view, while air team sees the
battle in a 3d rail-based interaction.

Gameplay Sky Mode
Sky Mode (Inspiration Star Fox) Air-to-air
arcade shooter action in the GRYPHON Sky
Configuration.
Designed for forward-moving, 180 degree
dog-fighting and armed with front cannons,
rockets, and defensive flares. They are able to
assist roving ground-based rovers with air
attacks by engaging in a rail-based attack runs
where they can be seen even by those engaged in
the side-scrolling mode..
However, while dogfighting other aircraft, it is
capable of quick tactical maneuvers like
side-rolls, evasive loops, and a jet assisted 180
switch. (To surprise rear enemies into looking
down the barrel of your front cannons!)

Gameplay Orbit Mode
Orbit Mode (Inspiration Sinistar)
High-octane top-down space shooter action in
the GRYPHON Space Configuration.
Powered by burst-jet-technology and armed with
blaster-cannons, rechargeable proximity
shockwave, and rechargeable shields. In this
configuration, the GRYPHON holds its own in short
to medium range skirmishes. However, when enemy
spacecraft get too close for comfort, the
rechargeable proximity shockwave will bring fatal
damage or completely destroy anything it touches.
However, multiple GRYPHONS must team up against
larger command and mother ships.

Single Player Mode
GAME WORLD OVERVIEW
  • In single player mode, the player may be joined
    by
  • NPC GRYPHONs. Depending on the mission, the
    player
  • may individually clear a combat layer or work
  • strategically (i.e. in formation) with other
    NPCs within
  • a single layer to defeat the enemy.
  • The player can switch between the combat layers
  • at any time. (The mission design may
    encourage this
  • via NPCs requesting backup/assistance.)
  • Single players may flag their game as Drop-In
  • enabled, allowing networked friends to join
    the
  • mission at any time.
  • As an extra challenge, the enemy generators
    will take
  • the form of land, sky, or orbital military
    stations in
  • both single and multiplayer modes.

Multiplayer Mode
  • Final Defense will offer same-box and network
    play.
  • Local players will interface via split screens
    that shift
  • and merge, depending on the shared or
    separated
  • combat layers in play. The networked players
    POV is
  • full screen and centric to his GRYPHON,
    although
  • same-layer team players can be identified in
    the field.
  • Multiplayer games may be organized beforehand
    based on specialties (ie. Sky-aces, etc) or on
  • the fly, during Drop-In enabled single
    player games.
  • Each combat layer features enemies that can
    damage teammates on other layers. (Land to
    orbit missiles, orbit to sky lasers, command
    ship deploying ground reinforcements from
    space, etc.) Players must work together to
    defend themselves and their teammates.

Conclusion Final Defense cleverly leverages
blockbuster arcade hits of yesteryear in a new
spin that maps to todays casual and
retro-astute hardcore players. The
combination of simultaneous, interconnected
combat layers and the frenetic twist of toggling
between three (or more) classic game mechanics
coupled with inter-mechanic interaction and team
collaborative tactics offers an exciting and
wholly original play experience.
