AMS South Overview
  • Approximately 325 Seventh grade students
  • 25 28 students in a typical class
  • Teachers are subject area specialists who are
    trained to teach all courses in the subject area
    through 12 grade.

  • Successful students work on school assignments or
    study for upcoming quizzes and tests for 60-90
    minutes each night.

  • All classrooms will be equipped with large screen
    projectors to display the teachers computer
  • Chalk boards will be replaced with marker boards.
  • Student lockers will be replaced in the hallways
    and the physical education locker rooms

  • The main entrance will be reconfigured to create
    a secure entrance during school hours.
  • Temporary entrance during construction will be at
    door three which is on the northeast corner of
    the school.

  • Student drop off and pick up for car riders will
    occur along the front of the school at door
  • Parents will need to enter the schools south
    parking lot from SR 267 and proceed north along
    the west side of the school to prevent a traffic
    back-up on US 36.
  • Please plan to drop students off by 720 a.m. to
    insure student are in class on time.

    third team will have about 50 students.

  • Teachers meet each day to coordinate curriculum,
    resolve student issues.
  • Classrooms are located beside one another.
  • Lockers are typically near the team classrooms.

First Day Procedures August 12, 2009
  • Full Day for students
  • 7th grade teams will meet in a large group area
    for about twenty minutes to introduce each
    teachers and discuss team procedures.
  • 7th grade team teachers will help students locate
    their first period class and conduct a guided
    tour of the school to make sure students know
    how to locate each class.

First Day Procedures August 12, 2009
  • 8th grade students will report to their first
    period class.
  • Lunch procedures will be discussed with students
    before they go to lunch.

  • Try Out Sports include Baseball, Basketball,
    Golf, Softball, Tennis and Volleyball
  • Non Try Out Sports include Cross-country,
    Football, Swimming, Track, and Wrestling
  • Information regarding tryout dates can be found
    in the lobby for select Fall Sports.

Athletic Participation
  • Physical Exam must be dated after May 1, 2009 for
    the next school year and must be on the IHSAA
    Physical Form
  • Drug Waiver Form. (Random Drug Testing)
  • 15 Athletic Fee. (one time fee per year)
  • Code of Conduct.

Athletic Admission
  • The middle school athletic program is self
    supporting with no tax dollars being used. We
    must pay for uniforms, equipment, game officials,
    event workers, and some transportation expenses
    using income from event admission an concession
  • Admission 3.00 per person
  • ages 6 - 61
  • 0-5 and 62 are FREE!
  • Individual and Family Passes available
  • 10 Game Passes

Athletic Eligibility
  • Student-Athletes must pass all classes. An F on
    a report card would result in athletic
    ineligibility. Grades carry over from 7th to 8th.
  • Classroom and bus behavior is also tracked and
    can affect athletics.
  • RULE C-15-11 of IHSAA Closed Season. (In
    season, no club or travel practices/games)
