Artist Statement
  • During my painting process, I pay particular
attention to color and form. When I utilize an
abstract style, (sometimes a combination of
figurative elements), I strive to create a
dynamic inter-dimensional space that lends a
polymorphic quality. When I choose a particular
subject matter, I first study it, then commence
to draw or paint my translation, all the while
referring to its inherent characteristics as I
fashion and explore my own interpretation. Some
of my paintings are non-objective and more of a
conjuring up of spontaneous image making. This is
like syncopation and rhythm for me, as form and
color chords strike in specific areas, (almost
like a solo), then orchestrate with other areas
of the image. I know my orchestration is complete
when all the sections are playing together.
