Title: Buying a Used Car

1
Buying a Used Car
2
  • Quite often, people do not have enough budget to
buy the car they desire to drive in such a
situation, it is convenient for people to opt for
pre-owned cars (better known as second-hand
    cars).
  • However, there are several aspects to be taken
care of before going ahead and purchasing a used
car. Some of these aspects are listed below.

3
Advantages of buying a pre-owned car
  • Price - Comparing apples to apples, a used car is
going to be less expensive. The relative
advantage of the used-car price can also allow a
buyer to step up to a higher model.
  • Insurance Rates - Like financing, insurance rates
will be affected by the age of a car, but in this
case the used vehicle tends to be less expensive.
  • Choice - Although you obviously cant build a
used car to order, maybe you want a model, option
package, or even wheel design thats no longer
    made.

Disadvantages of buying a pre-owned car
  • Buying a problem - While it is not unheard of for
new cars to have a large number of breakdowns or
problems, you can be assured that the dealer or
manufacturer will make every effort to make you
    happy.
  • No warranty - A used car will not come with a
warranty, unless your dealer is the authorised
    one by the manufacturer.
  • Choice - While their selection of used cars is
huge you may not get the exact car you are
looking for. When buying new, you can choose all
    the options and colours.

Tips for buying a pre-owned car
  • You don't have to be a mechanic to find the
obvious damage done to the car. Make sure that
you check the car inside out if you dont have
the expertise, get someone along who is in the
    know.
  • Start with the exterior and check it for possible
problems like ripped lines, gaps in the car
panels, rusty spots, corrosion, accidents and
    trailer hitches.
  • Check the manual transmission to make sure that
the car has no leaks, noises, trouble while
changing gears, while moving the clutch etc.
