• The male weighs 7 to 10 tons. The female weighs 4
  to 6 tons. The male will grow to 27 to 33 feet
  long. The female will grow to be 21 feet long.

• Orcas are striking black and white. When a calf
  is born it weighs 400 pounds. They have stocking
  bodies, round heads and a beak. They have a tall
  dorsal fin and a paddle like flippers.

Cold weather adaptations

• Although group of 100 or more, orca pods are
  strong and last for life. The members protect the
  young, the sick and the injured. Orcas dont make
  long seasonal migrations. They stay in the same
  area throughout the year. Some pods may combine
  to form a group of 100 or more.

They may cover an area of hundreds of miles to
find seasonal prey. The orca whale lives in North
America, South America, Africa, Europe, Asia and
Australia. The male will live to be 50-60 years
old. The female will live to be 90 years old.

• They eat fish, squid, birds, krill, young blue
  whales and marine mammals. The orca whales diet
  is fish and squid. Orcas can dive to a depth of

  will eat 551 pounds of food a day.

  prey. It grows 40 to 52 teeth.

  world. Pollution and contaminated chemicals make

• The orca whale is actually a dolphin. Their
  nickname is wolf of the sea (because they is
  like a to look around) and tail slapping are
  common wolf. Spy hopping and poking its head out
  of the water orca activities.
