  • Doesnt have a nest
  • Born in spring
  • Feeds self at 12 weeks old
  • Female fawns stay for 2 yr.
  • Male fawns stay for 1 yr.
  • Life span 10-20 yr.

Habitat/Shelter
  • Northern Canada, North America, Peru
  • Farmland, forests, grassy land
  • Favorite riparian green land along water
  • Makes spot in grass
  • Hide from predators

Diet
  • Twigs of bushes
  • Fruit, acorns, mushrooms
  • Stays where there is food in winter
  • Eats at dawn and dusk
  • Fawn drinks moms milk until 10-12 weeks old

  • Babies have white spots
  • Uses antlers to fight
  • Signals danger with tail
  • Male deer reddish-brown in summer
  • Gray in winter
  • Tail brown on top and white underneath
