Nutria

  • An adult nutria is about 14 inches long from the
    nose to the base of the tail. 
  • The tail is about12 to 17 inches long it is
    round, and hairless. 
  • The whiskers are about 4 inches long.
  • They have 20 teeth, and include 4 large incisors
    that allows the nutria to cut off underwater
    plants without getting water into its mouth.
  • Nutria average weight is 16 to 18 pounds.
  • There front feet have five toes the hind feet are
    much larger.
  • All of the toes are connected by a skin web
    except for the little toe.

  They live in Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi and
Florida. There are a lot of other nutrias in the
areas of Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina,
Virginia and Maryland as well as in the waterways
of Washington and Oregon.

    shrimps, fiddler crabs, crawfishes, grasshoppers
