  • Survey the southern Galaxy with Mopra at 12mm
  • 90 square degrees at 2 arcminute resolution

  • Use MOPS zoom mode to survey multiple lines

Results (i)
  • 199 H2O maser sites (151 New 76)
  • 6.4 maser sites per square degree (4.9 new per
    square degree)
  • New detections comparable to MMB survey!
  • MMB so far surveyed 2/3 of the Galactic
    Plane
  • ? gt800 masers and 350 new detections
  • ? 500 predicted total new detections for
    both HOPS and MMB.

  • 500 NH3 (1,1) clumps widespread
  • Widespread detections in NH3 (2,2), (3,3), HC3N
    (3-2), radio recombination lines
  • Occasional detection of CH3OH lines at 24928,
    24933, 24934, 24959, 25018, 25124MHz, HC5N, NH3
    (6,6) and (9,9)

To-do List
  • Characterise Mopra beam at 12mm
  • Fix absolute flux scale at 12mm (efficiency)
  • Determine appropriate detection limit for H2O
    masers
  • Derive consistent framework for calculating
    physical characteristics of NH3 clumps
  • Publish data!
  • Follow up observations with both Mopra and ATCA
