  apron)
• Boys-hats with wide brims, suspenders, long
  underwear
• Women-bloomers under dresses, lacy
  undergarments
• Men-union suits long underwear

HARDSHIPS THEY FACED

• River crossings-Wagons could sink or tip, people
  could drown
• Accidents-Falling off the wagon, getting smashed
  by wagon wheels, guns going off and hitting
  someone
• Diseases- Cholera caused infection in the
  intestine caused by contaminated water or food
• Weather- Thunderstorms, people got struck by
  lightning or hit by hailstones the size of apples

ANIMALS THEY TOOK WITH THEM

• Horse- quickly rejected because they attracted
  bandits
• Mule-easy to breed, fast could live off prairie
  grass
• Oxen-slow, went 2 mph
• Buffalo- used as game
